Individual and the Economy
|
Basic knowledge/vocabulary such as:
-define the caste system -distinguish between microloans, foreign aid, and affirmative action -identify economic indicators -scarcity, social mobility financial inequality, developed countries, developing countries |
-Explain, with examples, how South Asian history has created inequalities in different communities.
Describe how financial inequality limits social mobility (i.e. people who are poor often stay poor.) Explain, with examples, how financial instruments such as microloans, foreign aid, and affirmative action can help alleviate inequalities. |

Oil/OPEC Lesson Cycle - Patterson
This all encompassing four week lesson cycle is designed to teach students about supply, demand, OPEC, and standard of living in Southwest Asia countries. Access to technology is recommended at several points throughout this lesson cycle. I decided to use this lesson cycle as a transition into South Asia. Even though the content is focused in the Middle East Asia, the skill/standards being assessed is for South Asia. The idea is to bridge the two regions with content that lends itself to supply, demand, etc..
